I believe part of the reason judge got so many votes was because his name was one of the first on the list so when people dragged his name first. His votes carried alot of weight in the #1 position. Correct me if I am wrong though. I don't want to spread misinformation. It was so long ago i probably forgot some things. Almost all of the judge votes wer only for judge. no other candidates were selected, even though only the number needed to guarantee a seat are counted, and the rest passed to alternates.
Overall, we need to be careful about who we vote in. This is a very important position. The last time we went willy nilly on voting, we ended up with Judge going AWOL.
But that last bit about him surprised me. He was voted in mainly because of the amount of effort he displayed in addressing a lot of the key issues regarding vehicle balance. He created various videos detailing the problems with dropships vs tanks vs swarm launchers. He was the one who put the issue of rendering problems with AV infantry from the perspective of a dropship pilot front and center. He displayed a lot of calculations showing the problems with damage application. And much more. So people thought he was the kind of player we could rely on to encourage CCP to finally bring balance to vehicles.
Instead, we ended up with Judge going AWOL and vehicle imbalance still needing to be addressed. This was a complete departure from what he initially portrayed himself as. As a result, we are now encouraged to do our homework as much as possible before we vote in anyone.
Read up on your candidates. Not just on what they posted on the voting page. Take into account their track record. Don't just vote someone in just because they happen to be in your corp or because they have a large following of players or because you think it's funny. There is real money being spent by CCP to cover their travels to and from Shanghai (like they do with the CSM for Iceland). NDA-related stuff that can have a major impact on us as players and on the game are being influenced here on a daily basis. Who you vote in will be able to wield the power of suggestion.
But it's not just that. CSM and CPM members alike have responsibilities and one of them can be voted out by the rest of the council if one of them happens to be going AWOL or otherwise proving to be uncooperative with the team.
